Mike - Seriously? This man is my Super Man. He is the most loving, wonderful, supportive, helpful, hard working husband on the face of the planet. He works full time, busts his booty in school (which he hates but does it anyways), and he is 100% helpful with the kids and around the house. I love him and am so grateful for him every day. He loves and adores his children. He especially loves the stage Preston is at because he is so much fun. Mike loves to jump on the bed with him, wrestle him and really do anything fun with him.
Preston - I have been a terrible mom lately (more on that later) but he's still amazing despite my mom failure. He is SO happy
He leaves Madison alone for the most part but occasionally when she's in her bumbo he will go over to her, put his hands over his face and play peek-a-boo with her. Sometimes when she is on her blanket on the floor he will go lay next to her (or on top of her) and pretend to wrestle with her. He really just moves around, makes grunting noise, says and occasional "hi-yah!" but hardly touches her. He is obsessed with the show 'Octonauts' on Disney Channel. It's about these sea explorers and each episode is about an adventure and new sea creature. He LOVES sharks, whales, dolphins, and pretty much anything to do with water and the sea. So for his 3rd birthday we have planned a trip to Sea World San Antonio. He will lose his mind. He turns 3 on a Sunday this year and we will be at Sea World the Friday and Saturday before...so technically he will be under three and will get in FREE. That's planning right there!
Madison - I have figured her out...I think. After reading countless books (Baby Wise, Happiest Baby on the Block, etc) I realized Madison is a stubborn little diva who does what she wants. I tried SO hard to put her on a schedule. I let her cry it out, I tried to space out her feedings to every three hours, I did everything the books said. Nothing. I was working 3x as hard but seeing no improvement or results. So I prayed long and hard about what to do and what was best for my baby and how to help her sleep and eat better. I feel like I received a pretty distinct answer of "Listen to her. She will tell you." So I feed her when she is hungry, she sleeps when she is sleepy and I rock her to sleep. She eats about every 3 hours during the day, doesn't nap the best but it's really not bad, she goes to bed around midnight/12:30am which can be difficult but currently she goes to bed and then doesn't wake up again until 8:30/9:00. If Preston was getting up at 6:30/7:00 I would have a hard time but they both sleep in so I sleep in too. I don't mind it at all. It works for us.
She is cooing, smiling, and if you work really hard for it she might even giggle. She is a complete Momma's girl. She loves her Daddy and is 100% content with him but if ANYONE else is holding her (yes, even my parents and Mike's mom) she will give the biggest pout face and start crying. Most times if people hold her they have to turn her out away from them so she doesn't see their faces and start to cry. She LOVES Preston. If I need to do something, I sit her in her bumbo wherever Preston is because she will just watch him play. She still nurses really well. We went to her four month appointment and she was 14lbs and she's wearing 6month clothes. She's cute and chubby.
Most of these photos are take from Uncle Bob's Farm. Well, technically he's my mom's Uncle Bob but we all call him Uncle Bob since that's the easiest. Uncle Bob is the Dallas, TX temple President and has most of his kids with their families here in TX as well. I am so glad we started doing get-togethers with our distant cousins otherwise I wouldn't have met one of my best friends and college roommate Scarlet.
Out at the farm we ate yummy food, rode 4 wheelers, chit chatted, my dad and sister went in the paddle boat, then we had a dance out at the barn. Fun night!
I will get to more posts another time but at least I gave a little update for now.
